life lately

the bump and the boxes. 38 weeks.

hello.

still here. still pregnant (38 weeks). settling into the new house. and the new found winter weather.

on the move: keep calm and carry on

the house has sold. and i am 34 weeks pregnant. i will be away from this space for a little while as i attempt to move our lives from one place to another. 

my motto: 'keep calm and carry on'...

the chickens have been put to work. they are currently in the veggie patch, clearing out the bugs, and fertilising the soil, ready for the winter crop to be planted.

my creative space is, for the moment, on the spare bed.still waiting (patiently) for the house to sell...

an invitation

whilst she sleeps, i set up little activities, inviting her to do whatever she wishes with them upon waking...

in the kitchen

... the last of summer is being cooked, preserved, frozen and enjoyed. i am also learning some new skills. bread making (without the bread maker) and the art of home-made pasta. how will we ever eat store-bought pasta again?

seeds

this was our first time harvesting sunflower seeds. a giant sunflower poped up in our veggie patch. such a beautiful surprise.

as the head of the sunflower started to droop i knew it must be time to start thinking about harvesting these little seeds to store for next spring.

i think it is really important to include her in most of my daily activities. it allows her play to have meaning, she often surprises me with what she already knows in these situations, just from her own observations. here, we are making papas breakfast muffins. she was so excited to give them to him when he got home. "dada", "dadda" "hot" "cake". And the best parts... The mess. The licking of the wooden spoon. And the washing up...

valentines day: a little party

we had a small party to celebrate valentines day. we kept it simple, love hearts galore, dear friends, a swim in the pool, home made ice tea, watermelon hearts, and a bee sting.
