easter: gifts

for easter this year, i used egg cartons, decorated them with pretty paper, and filled them with goodies inside. home-made chocolates using bunny moulds, and chocolate truffles (and when i didn't have enough, some little cadbury eggs!) i used this recipe to make the truffles, so easy, and added my own little twist. yum.

(my own twist: i did two batches, one milk, one dark chocolate. i added peppermint essence and chopped up mint patties to the dark truffles, and chopped turkish delight to the milk chocolate)

  11. This idea looks very pretty but I question the sanitation of using these to put food in. Egg shells can be contaminated with all sorts of bacteria and some is sure to be left behind and thriving in the cardboard hence transferred to the candy.

    1. My thoughts exactly! In fact, before I read your comment, I was about to post the following: Ugh! No way I'd put anything edible in an empty egg carton. Who knows how clean those egg shells were when they were put into the carton! And hen houses are anything but antiseptically clean

  13. What about spraying them with Lysol which kills 99.9% of germs?
